Blogging Tips and mistakes.

One of the easiest ways to add new relevant content to your website is to start a blog.  This should be posted to frequently.  You need to set aside time to develop new content and add interest.

The biggest mistake is not being committed to your blog.  If you post weekly then to it frequently.  Imagine if for two months you post weekly and then you stop for a month.  People may think you are out of business!  If you choose do blog bi-weekly, no problem, just be consistant.

You need to establish a niche. If you are too general in your posts, people do not know your specialty or my question your expertise because we can’t be knowledgeable  about everything.  I write about websites and website related marketing.  I do not write about anything else. The focus is on one thing and doing it well.

Blog with passion.  Be sincere and share the passion for what you do.  I figure it is my blog so I will give my opinion on my topic. If you do not like it you can start your own blog and express your own opinion.  This should be a way to express your professional opinion in your area of expertise to show you know what you are taking about.

Don’t rely solely on newsfeeds from other sources.  That does not require much effort and people will know it is not original.  If you happpen to share the same opinion as someone else then say so and rework the content with your own spin.  Sometimes I find an article that is really great, so I post it, but I always indicate is not mine and try to add an editorial comment.

Don’t forget to use your stats.  Take a look and see if you are getting results.  Sometimes the method of communication my not be right for your industry so check your stats to make sure people are viewing your blog.  There is no point going to all the effort to creating great content and no one sees it.  If it doesn’t work for you, make sure you are doing it right.  Do research and follow the general guidelines to blogging.  If you are doing it correctly and still have few visitors you have to consider you are ahead of your time in your industry and try a different approach.
