SEO, SEM and Social Media- What’s the difference?

In very simplified terms the definitions of the following Website traffic strategies are below:

 

SEO is Search Engine Optimization- is the art and science of getting better search results for your website. Tayloring your keyword content, coding and message.

SEM is Search Engine Marketing- also called Pay- per -click advertising. This is a market driven system that allows people to place adds on websites/ search engines  on a paid use basis. Basically if I click on your ad that takes me to your website , then you have to pay for it.

Social Media- Facebook, Twitter, Linked In, blogs- offer a way to drive trafffic to your website with compelling content, interesting articles, catching themes, and building relationships online.  Allows use of multiple free platforms.
